Justin "Bink" Blankenship

DISTRICT 1

Justin “Bink” Blankenship

Justin “Bink” Blankenship, a businessman from Sullivan, was first elected to the Crawford Electric board of directors during a three-candidate race in 2014 to fill a one-year position. To better educate himself on the complex energy industry, he has completed the Credentialed Cooperative Director Certificate. As chairman of the co-op’s technologies committee, he meets monthly with the committee to review in detail IT work plans, budgets and cybersecurity. He also serves on the bylaw and policy and engineering and operations committees.

Candidacy Statement:

“I Justin ‘Bink’ Blankenship want to thank you for putting your trust in me over the past seven years. It’s been an honor and privilege serving on YOUR board. After being elected in 2014, I realized the in-depth and substantial responsibility the directors have in making sure finances are in order, setting bylaws, and interacting with the community. As a director, I will strive to keep prices down and reliability up!”

 

Doug Murphy

DISTRICT 2

Doug Murphy

Doug Murphy of Bourbon was elected to the board in 2003. He holds the Credentialed Cooperative Director Certificate, which is issued through the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association after a course of education that includes strategic planning and financial decision-making. He currently sits on board committees that review Crawford Electric’s marketing and communications, engineering and operations, and technologies.


Candidacy Statement:

“It has been a privilege to have served the Crawford Electric Cooperative. The employees, management, and other directors have been incredible to work with. My goal is to be instrumental in providing owner-members with safe, reliable and affordable electricity.”

 

 

Jim Cottrell

DISTRICT 3

Jim Cottrell
#1 Cherryville Rd., Cherryville

Jim Cottrell, a lifelong resident of Crawford County, has served on the board since 1986. The Cherryville resident has been selected president by fellow board members for more than 20 of those years.

Jim plays an active role in advocating for our members. He works with other co-ops to reach out to legislators at both the state and national levels about issues that affect our co-op and members. He holds the Credentialed Cooperative Director Certificate and serves on the board of directors of Sho-Me Power Electric Cooperative, our power supplier.

“My goal is to provide reliable and affordable electric power to our member-owners.”
