In a cooperative, membership has its privileges. The organization is governed by a member-elected board of directors. The board members are co-op members just like you, who pay the same rates you do and who are obligated to make decisions in the best interests of the cooperative. Each co-op member gets a voice through a vote in the director election as well as on significant matters at annual meeting. Whether you’re a member who has one meter and uses very little electricity or a member who has multiple meters using lots of kilowatt-hours – one member/one vote is the democratic way.
