The sixth principle that guides the co-op is cooperation among cooperatives. Cooperatives serve their members most effectively and strengthen the cooperative movement by working together through local, national, regional and international structures.
Founded in 1937, theAssociation of Missouri Electric Cooperatives(link is exte(AMEC) is a statewide organization headquartered in Jefferson City representing Missouri's 47 electric co-ops. AMEC's mission is to provide a means for electric cooperatives to work together and accomplish things collectively that they could not do as effectively or efficiently on their own. The organization provides training,coordination of mutual aid and legislative efforts on behalf of Missouri electric cooperatives.
