As a member of an electric cooperative, you play a key role. Each year, you help choose fellow members to serve on the board of directors.
Voting in this year’s election opens at 8 a.m. Aug. 15. Members may cast their ballots online, through SmartHub or by mail. Early voting ends at 11:59 p.m. Sept. 15. Members who do not vote early may cast their ballots in person from 8 to 10 a.m. Sept. 17 at the annual meeting.
Members will elect three directors, one from each of the co-op’s geographic districts. They will also be asked to approve Proposition A. If approved, the proposition would prohibit directors and their close family members from being employed by the cooperative for one year after the director leaves the board.
Candidate biographies and the full text of Proposition A will be available by Aug. 15 on the co-op’s website, the online voting portal and in the mail-in ballot packets. They will also be included in the official notice of the meeting in the September issue of Rural Missouri.
Survey & Ballot Systems will provide election services. Although there are several ways for members to submit ballots, each membership is entitled to only one vote. To maintain election integrity, only the first ballot received per membership will be counted.
Members who vote by Sept. 15 will be entered into a drawing for electric bill credits. More than 50 prizes will be awarded, ranging from $10 to $500.
The following members have submitted nominating petitions to become director candidates pursuant to the bylaws:
District 1: Janet Morrow, Paul Gross
District 2: Jim Biermann
District 3: Gary Mullen, Kenny Staples
